Next, complete the installation of your Built-In Vac Cleaning System by mounting the power unit and connecting its intake pipe and low-voltage wiring to the main trunk line. When you planned your installation you chose a convenient location for the power unit. If your trunk line is located in the attic, you have also cut an access hole for the intake tubing. MOUNTING THE POWER UNITAt the chosen location, prepare to attach the power unit to the wall. The power unit should be mounted so that the bottom of the power unit is a minimum of 18" from the floor. Refer to the power unit's dimensions for minimum wall clearance.

Keeping these requirements in mind, complete the final stage of installation. |
|
Slide the rubber connectors onto the power unit's intake and exhaust pipes.
Fasten the connectors to the pipes with metal clamps - use a screwdriver to tighten the clamps at the end of the connector closest to the power unit.
|
Joining the intake and exhaust pipes to 90* elbows requires cutting short transition pieces of tubing to insert into the rubber connectors (the elbows cannot be directly joined to the rubber connectors).
Transition piece of PVCCut the intake's transition piece longer than the exhaust transition - the lower intake tubing must clear the upper exhaust line. Fit and cement these pieces to 90* elbows and insert the transition piece into the rubber connectors. Secure the transition pieces to the rubber connectors with metal clamps.

CONNECTING THE POWER UNIT TO THE TRUNK LINE
Run the intake tubing to where it joins the main trunk line. A basement trunk line is easily connected to a power unit on the same level of the house. Make the connection with a 90* elbow.
|
EXHAUSTING THE POWER UNITJoin tubing to the power unit's exhaust line and run the exhaust to the outside. See "Locating the Power Unit." The exhaust should not be vented into a wall, ceiling, or concealed space of the house. The best way to exhaust the power unit is directly through an exterior wall. You can also run the exhaust tubing through the attic to a roof vent.
